As some of you know, I have been trying to quit biting my nails (which is hard!). My fake nails didn´t last very long, so I decided that I wanted to get a gel nail manicure. I chose gel nails instead of fake nails because they don´t stay on as long and because I found it less scary. After checking prices in Brighton, I realised that it was more expensive than I first thought. I didn´t really want to pay 27 pounds for nail polish that would last three weeks, so I ended up buying my own kit for the price of two manicures. I was a bit worried after reading online about a few people claiming that this broke their nails (gel nails in general, not my kit), and it´s still a concern to be honest. But then again there is always people having negative and positive opinions about everything online. I chose to make up my own opinion and believe that if you follow the instructions closely, not pick on the polish, and keep your nails clean and healthy, it will be fine. And my nails are still fine and healthy :)
Gel nail polish is a special nail polish that requires a UV lamp to dry. Once it is dry after two minutes of treatment, it is completely dry and it is impossible to mess up the result. This is awesome because I always mess up my nails with normal nail polish cause it takes so long to dry. I ordered my kit via Amazon from NK1 Secrets. I was supposed to receive the three best selling colours, but at lest one of them was wrong (I got gold instead of red). The colours also don´t match the colour map, which is really confusing. The bottles are not marked with either the colour name or number, so I had to trust what they wrote that the colours were called. But the gold almost looks light brown in the colour map, and what was supposed to be dark pink turned out to be light pink... Despite this, I like the set and I´ve gotten used to the colours (Except the gold polish! I am a bit scared of trying it because it´s so sharp).
Here´s a few pictures of the bottles, the UV lamp and eventually the result of my DIY manicure.

Another picture of the bottles. This time I used the pink one in the middle of the bottles on the left side. |

The result. I was a bit disappointed that the pink turned out so bright and light because I expected it to be darker. |

But I soon started to like the colour. |

And now I´m happy with the result. |
