Cupcake Nails - My first Youtube Tutorial

Hi guys! The last few months I have spent a lot of time working on new nail art ideas, and I have finally started a YouTube channel to share my designs with others. I was very excited to upload my first video a couple of weeks ago. In fact I had so much fun making it that I am already working on several other tutorials I hope to upload soon! Please check out my tutorial on how to make these yummy colourful cupcake nails!

My Recent Nail Art Ideas

Recently I've been spending a lot of time working on nail art. I've been having so much fun creating different designs, and I also started a Youtube channel to share my work. Here are some pictures of some of the simple nail designs I've been using as backgrounds for nail art.

Back in Norway

I am now, as the title suggests, back in Norway. I have been back for 3.5 weeks, but I havn´t had time to update my blog because I´ve been working so much. This week my work settled down a bit, so I finally have time to do some other stuff. I am currently working on a gift for my boyfriend´s birthday (which I cannot post any pictures of yet because I´m afraid he´ll see it). I am also making a dress for my friend Gerny´s wedding that is in 1.5 week. My excitement grows, and I really hope I´ll be able to finish my dress in time for the wedding. Pictures of the dress and the process of making it will come later when it is done. After posting this I am going to continue working on my dress because I now believe I have a solution for the problems I´ve been having with the sawing. Can´t wait to show you!

A picture of a big chess game I found at the airport in Stavanger, Norway.
Pretty cool in my opinion.

Brighton beach

Yesterday was a busy day! I went to the physiotherapist in the morning, and afterwards my boyfriend Lewis and I did a lot of preparing for next year. We fixed stuff for my housing after summer, ordered storage and went to different shops in Brighton. After all this work, we went to eat doughnuts at the beach since it finally was sunny after several days with rain and clouds.

We found half a stone saying 'Bye Bri'. Most likely someone had a really good time in Brighton and wrote 'Bye Bye Brighton' on a stone that they threw in the sea before leaving. I thought it was a bit fascinating because it seemed quite old, so I wanted to share it with you guys. I really wonder who did this!

This stone isn´t the only thing I´ve found at the beach this year. Earlier this spring I saw some beautiful shells, bigger than I´ve ever seen in Norway (of this type). So here´s my treasures from the beach in Brighton:

When we finally came back home, we were both so tired that we fell asleep. When we finally woke up we went to meet our friends at the bar and had a really good time.

Monica´s birthday

I normally don´t write blog posts about people, but today is a special day for my best friend Monica who is turning 22. Because she lives in Norway and I´m still in England, I am sorry to say that I can´t go see her. Hopefully I will get to see her this summer though, which I am really looking forward to! :)
I am not going to write a lot of me and Monica´s stories, that´s not necessary because she already knows everything she needs to know about our friendship. Even though we don´t talk too often now that we live in different countries, I know that she is always there for me just like I am for her, and that is all we really need to know. Happy birthday Ahava! I love you <3

For you Monica :)

Gel nail starter kit

As some of you know, I have been trying to quit biting my nails (which is hard!). My fake nails didn´t last very long, so I decided that I wanted to get a gel nail manicure. I chose gel nails instead of fake nails because they don´t stay on as long and because I found it less scary. After checking prices in Brighton, I realised that it was more expensive than I first thought. I didn´t really want to pay 27 pounds for nail polish that would last three weeks, so I ended up buying my own kit for the price of two manicures. I was a bit worried after reading online about a few people claiming that this broke their nails (gel nails in general, not my kit), and it´s still a concern to be honest. But then again there is always people having negative and positive opinions about everything online. I chose to make up my own opinion and believe that if you follow the instructions closely, not pick on the polish, and keep your nails clean and healthy, it will be fine. And my nails are still fine and healthy :)

Gel nail polish is a special nail polish that requires a UV lamp to dry. Once it is dry after two minutes of treatment, it is completely dry and it is impossible to mess up the result. This is awesome because I always mess up my nails with normal nail polish cause it takes so long to dry. I ordered my kit via Amazon from NK1 Secrets. I was supposed to receive the three best selling colours, but at lest one of them was wrong (I got gold instead of red). The colours also don´t match the colour map, which is really confusing. The bottles are not marked with either the colour name or number, so I had to trust what they wrote that the colours were called. But the gold almost looks light brown in the colour map, and what was supposed to be dark pink turned out to be light pink... Despite this, I like the set and I´ve gotten used to the colours (Except the gold polish! I am a bit scared of trying it because it´s so sharp).

Here´s a few pictures of the bottles, the UV lamp and eventually the result of my DIY manicure.

The three colours I received and the base coat and top coat in black bottles.

Th UV lamp required.

Another picture of the bottles.
This time I used the pink one in the middle of the bottles on the left side.

The result. I was a bit disappointed that the pink turned out
so bright and light because I expected it to be darker.

But I soon started to like the colour.

And now I´m happy with the result.

My first exam

Today I had my first of three exams before summer. I was quite nervous and didn´t sleep more than 2 hours last night. The reason I was so nervous is that 'Research Skills in Psychology II' is the hardest module I´ve ever had, and everybody is on some level struggling with understanding how it all relates. To have complete understanding of and control over all the different designs used in psychology research, the similarities and the differences between them, and all the outputs in the data program SPSS is no 'piece of cake'! I eventually realised that this was not an exam I could revise for without making a map over the parametric tests I needed to know and their outputs, and this actually ended up being really helpful. An other reason for why I was so nervous was that I did the sample paper to test my knowledge, and it was surprisingly and suspiciously easy! This made me ask a lot of questions like: 'Do I know a lot, or is the sample paper just incredibly easy?' 'If it is easy, will the exam be harder or similar?' After talking to other people on my course, we concluded that the sample paper was in fact very easy. The exam was (honestly) a lot harder. In the beginning I got a bit anxious because it seemed quite difficult, but once I concentrated and read the questions properly, I actually knew a lot more than I thought at first. I am happy the first exam finally is over so that I can concentrate on the two exams I have next week that are a lot less ...well, less research skills.

My notebook where I´ve written all of my lecture notes.
A few of those many pages.
The poster/map I made for learning the parametric tests and their SPS outputs.
Not too complicated, but I couldn´t use any more time on this part of the revising.
